  1. Congratulations!!

Weekly time organizing my home or office? I live with 8 people now in a big house and I have a small space for my things so I am in a process of clearing and purging then reorganizing. So...about 5 hours a week right now.

    1. Thank you Andrea!

5 hours a week is impressive, especially considering that you are living with 8 people now. It is most certainly a process that is ongoing. If you take the time to organize your things as you go along, it makes it much easier in the long run. For every minute spent organizing, an hour is gained. I am with you in all the way, and am just a phone call away. Keep up the great work!!

  2. I'd guesstimate 20 minutes a week maintaining the clutter, but if there are trouble spots (linen closet, kitchen closet with tupperware, etc) then it could take up to an hour or more depending on the size of the project and how OCD I'm feeling. We live in a 4bdrm, 3 full bath house, 1900 sq ft, 2 adults, 1 teen, one child, 2 dogs.

Congrats on 4 years! :) I look forward to many more years of your blog/site/FB page and learning from you and your readers!

    1. Thanks Tim! 20 minutes a week to maintain is a good thing! To work on the trouble spots an hour or more - depending on which project and how much it needs organization - is also a great start. Do you set a timer? Sometimes that helps to get you focused and I know it's helped me with my 'OCD' tendencies and keeps me on track.

There will be many more years of blog/site/FB page posts to keep you motivated and inspired. Make it an organized day!

  3. Heh - if you count the minutes I spend almost daily collecting papers, searching for papers, piling them haphazardly so I'll get to them later... it would be about "a lot". If you count the intention I set every time I find myself doing all of the above, it would be "a reasonable amount." As for the actual DOing, I can be gentle on myself. I am still in transition, so I believe this is the last peak I'm climbing before I emerge with a system that allows for the flow and gradual accumulation of chaos WITH help purging and re-setting on a monthly basis. HA! I can SO do this!

    1. I realize that this is a work in progress and we've spoken about your projects. Continue to set those intentions (and be gentle on yourself). Make sure you know what it is you want to accomplish and take it step by step.

As you know, I'm only a phone call away to assist and when you are ready, I'm more than happy to help with purging and making sure that system stays in place. You CAN definitely do this Ellen & please know that I'm with you all the way!

    2. I tend to organize something everyday. It might be my office shelves or the kitchen cabinets or the closet. I find if I keep it up each day, then there aren't too many times it feels overwhelming.

    1. That's great and if you keep up with the organizing it helps to keep that 'overwhelm' under control. Bamacheryl: Please let me know your actual name and last initial, so that you can be entered into the contest. Thanks!

    1. 1/2 hour a day is a simply great start to getting things cleaned out an organized. If you feel like you need more time, then move up to 45 minutes or an hour on the weekend or do 1/2 hour in the AM and 1/2 hour at night - so that you don't feel overwhelmed.
